The Big Secret To Faster Writing!

Faster Writing Secret

Fast Writing SecretOkay, we’ve covered some pretty cool ways to increase the speed of your writing. We’ve looked at things like how to eliminate distractions, how to do research faster, how to type faster, and how to draft and edit correctly.

But there’s one last thing that can seriously put your writing into overdrive, and that is dictation.

No, I’m not talking about having a secretary sitting at some weird little machine typing out everything you say or speak into a little tape recorder and typing it out on some old 1970s typewriter. I’m talking, of course, about using a dictation program like Dragon Naturally Speaking.

Dictation programs listen to what you say in a microphone and type it all out for you. This is much, MUCH faster than traditional typing, because the average brain works a lot faster than the average user can type.

When you use a properly-trained dictation program, you can potentially double your writing output pretty much instantly!

Okay, I’m going to be frank with you here. It DOES take a little bit of time to train the program to recognize your voice patterns and accurately type what you say, and this is especially true if you have a thick accent or any type of speech difficulties. But you can train the program to adapt to pretty much any accent you have, and once you get through all that initial training, your productivity will skyrocket!

I know it’s hard to believe, but these programs really can dramatically increase how much you’re able to write.

It can be a little awkward at first, especially if you have people around you all the time. But if necessary, go lock yourself in another room, or even a closet if you have to! Don’t be embarrassed!

Some programs have a free trial, so you can try them out to see if they work well for you. Try not to get frustrated when you’re first training the program. Believe me, it DOES get easier! Once you know the in’s and outs of the software and it has learned to recognize your speech
patterns, it will save you a HUGE amount of time!

That’s it for this series on writing faster. I hope you learned a lot, and I hope you’ll apply what you’ve learned to help you write faster than ever before! Make sure you look out for more information, I will have some new killer tips and tricks coming up soon!
